Corporate Social Responsibility

It is our responsibility to give back to the community in which we live in. Close attention is however paid to our choice of who we sponsor, preferably those who are less privileged and are still young as we want to nurture talent. Seeing that we believe in preventative measures than curative, we therefore endorse sport through sponsorship because sport is synonymous with health.

Kutlwano Volleyball Club   JKA BOTSWANA

This team was identified as a new team and went into partnership with us in 2008, although the sponsorship was officially launched in August 2009. The sponsorship was valued at P70 000 per year. As already stated, Kutlwano was identified as new talent with a lot of potential and sponsoring the team seemed inevitable.

The annual Itekanele JKA Championships was launched in August 2008 for a period of 5 years. The reason behind partnering with JKA was because we believe in nurturing young talent. The JKA Tournament is constituted by young individuals partaking in karate, these being the people that we would love to see their talent being developed. We therefore share a vision with these young individuals and that vision is to see them making it to the world cup. The JKA was offered sponsorship to the tune of P33 000 per year.

Gofaone Tlhakeng:     Medical aid cover to students and destitutes
In July 2008, Itekanele received a report from our Selebi-Phikwe office regading a certain student who needed assistance to excel in her studies. Being a company that is concerned with the development of young talent and changing people’s lives for the better, we saw it right for us to get involved in making this child’s life better. Itekanele, in partnership with Mojamorago CJSS (Where Gofaone is a student), ventured in to a relationship to renovate a family house and develop a garden for the family to grow vegetables and help themselves.    Itekanele has also been running short-term sponsorships where we gave out presents or packages in various schools. We gave out free medical cover for the best overall student in Kgale Hill CJSS and books worth P500.00 to two other students.

Itekanele and Education    Itekanele Tswapong Regional Soccer League
We value education and the social development of a child, in producing a well rounded citizen of the world. At a prize giving ceremony at Nare Sereto CJSS in Gabane, Itekanele pledged P500.00 worth of books to three best students. A computer was given to a certain school in Metsimotlhabe where Itekanele Managing Director was invited to officially open the school.     Itekanele Tswapong Regional Soccer League was launched in September 2009 and was handed over a sponsorship of P30 000. Our choice in sponsoring football was because football in our country is common ground for all, regardless of age or socio-economic background, something we believe in. And what better way to penetrate the market than by giving them what they love most…football, and supporting them in a game believed to be a game for all. One other reason for our choice of region was that Tswapong being a small region, it would be satisfying to see their football grow, which is why we even chose to sponsor the 1st division league.

Itekanele FRAFA Regional Football League
The Frafa Regional Football League was also sponsored at a division 1 level and launched in October 2009 at the value of P30 000. This region was chosen simply because the Francistown region has over the years been a community that gave Itekanele Health Scheme a lot of support. We therefore found it fit to give back to the community that made us who we are today.
